Lead levels in Viscaria alpina from Greenland [kisplante, pyrite plant, anomalous value, mineralized areas]

Lead concentrations were measured in 454 leaf specimens of Viscaria alpina collected from Greenland. Viscaria alpina is the "kisplante" (pyrite plant) known to be associated with sulphide mineralization in Fennoscandia. From the geometric mean and standard deviation, anomalous values were taken to be those exceeding 10 mu-g/g (dry mass). Anomalous lead levels were associated both with known mineralized areas and with regions of specific geology which are considered to be worthy of follow-up investigations.
