The fish fauna of the Rivers Drava and Mura and their river-systems were investigated between November of 1999 and October of 2001. A low-powered, electric fishing gear with accumulator was used to the investigations that produces pulsating direct current. The location of sampling sites were measured with GPS. During the investigation 19.223 specimen were collected and identified that belongs to 53 different species. Our results were completed with the catchment data of anglers documentes with photos, so the presence of 56 species altogether were proved from the river-system unit now. List of species and conclusions will be published in the II. part of the paper.
