Agglomeration of rice straw using rotating drum [Philippines].
1984
Terminez E.D.V.
This study was aimed to construct and test a simple drum agglomerator to produce good quality agglomerates. Results revealed that the optimum length of cut and moisture content of rice straw were 5 mm and 27%, respectively. The appropriate tumbling-cascading motion of the agglomerates was at 37 drum rpm and the optimum drum inclination was 9 degrees. The size distribution of the products ranged from 1.27 cm to 3.81 cm in diameter with the 30-40-30 mixture processed at 9 degrees. The 35-35-30 mixture was found to be the best to ensure the quality of products.
